A Villa in Jeddah – Simple Islamic Design for a Family
The client wanted an Arabic oriental feel – warm, elegant, but not crowded with details. We delivered a design-only solution in 2022 that their family still loves
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
800 m²
Design Only
2022
Let me tell you about this project.
The client lives in Jeddah. He has a family of five. He wanted his home to feel Islamic – but not in a heavy, complicated way. No congested geometric patterns covering every wall. No dark corners. No “too much.”
He wanted simple. Warm. Open. A place where his kids could run without knocking over fragile decorations. A place where guests feel welcome, not overwhelmed.
He said: “I want it to feel Arabic. But I don’t want to feel like I’m living inside a mosque or a souvenir shop.”
But there was another challenge.
He had seen too many designs that looked beautiful on paper but became nightmares to build. Curved walls that cost a fortune. Custom tiles that took months to arrive. Details that made contractors shrug and say, “That will be extra.”
He didn’t want that.
He wanted a design that is easy to build. Straightforward. No complicated angles. No custom-made-everything. He wanted his contractor to look at the drawings and say, “I can price this. I can build this. No surprises.”
And he wanted it cost-effective. Not cheap. Smart. Every dirham spent where it matters – not on impossible details that nobody notices.
We understood completely.
He worked long hours. He didn’t have time to manage a complicated build. He needed a design-only solution – clear, complete, buildable, and ready to hand to any contractor.
We Designed an 800 sqm Home That Is Simple, Arabic, Buildable, and Cost-Effective.
We started by listening. Not to trends. To him.
He told us about his mornings coffee in a sunlit corner. His evenings the family gathered around one table. His kids are needing space to play without breaking things.
We built the design around flow, light, and warmth and around buildability.
The Islamic Touch, Simplified and Buildable
Instead of dense geometric patterns, we used subtle arabesque lines in key places window frames, archways, a single feature wall. All straight lines. No curved custom millwork. Any carpenter can do it.
The Arabic Oriental Feel with Standard Materials
We brought in warm earth tones terracotta, sand, soft olive. Natural materials: wood, stone, linen. All locally available in Jeddah. No imported tiles. No special-order anything.
Easy-to-Build Details
Straight walls – no curves, no complex angles
Standard ceiling heights – no stepped levels that need special framing
Simple lighting layout – recessed LEDs on straight runs, no sculptural custom fixtures
Off-the-shelf finishes – tiles, wood, stone that any supplier stocks
We told the client: “Any contractor in Jeddah can price this in one visit. No surprises. No ‘we need to import that.'”
For a Family of Five in 800 sqm with Smart Space Planning
With 800 square meters, we had room to breathe. We created zones – not walls. The living area flows into the dining area. The dining area flows into a family sitting nook.
We also added a family majlis a large, open gathering space for guests and extended family. Simple rectangular room. Easy to build. No columns in the middle.
What We Delivered
Layout plans – straight lines, standard dimensions
3D renderings – so he could see his home before building
Material boards – all materials available locally in Jeddah
Color palette – warm, cohesive, calm
Furniture layout – sized for a family of five
Contractor-ready drawings – no special instructions, no “good luck with that” details
We did not manage construction. We did not supervise contractors. We gave him a complete, buildable design package – and he took it from there.
He Built It. On Budget. On Time. No Contractor Headaches.
The client took our design to his contractor in Jeddah. The contractor priced it in three days. No questions. No “what is this?” No change orders before starting.
The build was completed in 2022. On budget. On time.
We stayed in touch. A year later, he sent us photos. The kids were laughing in the living room. The family was gathered around the dining table. The warm light hit the arabesque window frames just right.
He wrote:
“You gave me a home that feels like us. Simple. Warm. Arabic. Not crowded. And the best part? My contractor loved the drawings. No headaches. No extra costs. Every dirham was spent where it mattered. Thank you.”
That is what simple Islamic design looks like on 800 square meters. Not decoration for decoration’s sake. A home that works for a real family – and a design that works for a real contractor.
We design for real life and real budgets. Simple, warm, buildable, and made for your family. No complicated details. No impossible curves. Just smart design that any contractor can price and build.
